This set is about 8 years old. It is VERY sturdy! We recovered the chairs about 2 years ago, I guess... maybe 3. We also Scotchguarded them. The chairs are pine, but they are very sturdy. They do have dings in them where they hit the table when pushed in. I don't think the table is pine. It seems like hard wood. It is in good condition... not excellent. There are some marks on top from the markers & where the sealer is wearing off a little, but it is not bad (see picture... actually it doesn't really show in the picture... it isn't horrible). The chairs are LARGE and COMFORTABLE. You know how you usually finish dinner with company and want to quickly move to the couch to continue conversation. Well... with these chairs you don't find that urge to leave the table. =0) If you need more than 4 chairs, I always thought a bench on one side would be a great addition for the kiddos. (Unfortunately, we don't have one.) We just used other chairs so that all our kiddos could join us at the table. Three chairs can fit on either side. So, if you have extra chairs (not all as large as the original), you can fit 8 around the table. Asking $200 for the set.
With a paint job & a table cloth, this can be a cute little table! This set has seen better days, but it is still VERY sturdy. This was our first table when we were married and we bought it used from a couple in our Sunday school class. That was over 18 years ago. We painted it hunter green which is now peeling off. It definitely needs painting. My plan was to paint it black... that never happened. The chairs could use a little extra cleaning & some sanding before painting. The top is Formica butcher block. It has a small corner missing on the side. (You can see that in the top picture.) The top is fine. This is a great "starter" table, homeschool table, craft table, etc. Asking $30 for the set. (You could buy this if you need extra chairs for the nice table above... paint the chairs... and voila... you have LOTS of seating available!)
